So, I got on Ray Bob about 2 weekends ago and this is a little bit of a vent - ok, it is a full-blown vent. I was only out about 5 hours and landed 3 totaling about 7 pounds and 3:30 rolls around and I decide to call it day as the boat snacks just weren't going to hold me over. So I head to the ramp at Isle Du Bois to load back up.
Here comes the vent - I would say that nearly every "bass" boat would come in flying and then hit the proverbial water break right at the no wake buoy's; throwing huge wakes into the ramp area. After about 7 boats, the whole place was just churning and for those that have a boat buddy to drop off, not that big of a deal. For those of us that are solo launching and loading it is a big deal. It is dangerous for our boats and the people. Shutting down 20 yards shorter would maybe cost you 5 seconds if that. And if you really can't give up 5 seconds coming off the lake, then you're probably a inconsiderate [censored]. I understand wanting get off the lake and not wanting to wait for others who got in front of you - but seriously, think risk and reward, not just for yourself but for the fellow boaters/fishermen.
So please, take a moment to be a little more considerate, because your actions can lead to serious issues for others. Have, be safe and don't be a [censored].
I'm done - thank you.
P.S. for the guy and his buddy who literally cut me off into the ramp area by maybe 30 feet to get to the front of the line - piss off.

One of the main reasons I have a trolling motor with spot lock. So I don't have to tie up to the dock, and be the victim of some dilrod throwing a wake into the ramp area, and scratching up all the tied up boats, because the bumpers are never in the right place to stop it.

Bass boats can be a real hazard. been thinking about making a "don't be a basshole" tee shirt. At Lake Fork those bass boats with the 300 HP motors zip into the no wake zone at the bridge creating a big wake then take off like a dragster once out of the zone making a second wake.
I feel your pain. At least we get a variety of annoyances on the lake. Between Jet fleas, Grandkid pullers and Bassholes ya gotta stay on your toes.

No argument with your little rant. I wish more boaters would slow down when approaching no wake zones.

At Fork last year was just as you said. They shut it down last moment. A freakn guide as though he owns he entire lake. The wake was right on me and had wife with me . I can just say that if I didn't turn boat away would have rolled right in on her. If he hadn't of had some young kids and dad with him the crazy would have come out. I see the lack of respect and character running wild these days.

I would agree with you , but then we would both be WRONG !!!!!

No argument with your little rant. I wish more boaters would slow down when approaching no wake zones. While I agree 100%, if these boat owners are shutting down, before they pass the buoy, and the wakes are still a problem, then this rant should really be aimed at the improper placement of the buoys. Cutting folks off ain’t cool either. If your in a hurry, then head in a little earlier.

What I see on Lewisville is the waker board type boat running parallel to the 35 bridge wrecking the crappie guys trying to fish. Boaters idling under the bridges are subject to 3+'rollers head on. Bass boats put out a very small wake compared to the others, imo.

Cutting folks off ain’t cool either. If your in a hurry, then head in a little earlier. While I can't say for certain whether buoys are correctly placed at every location, I can say with certainty that when I'm fishing on my kayak inside a buoy-marked area, I see way too many boats come powering through the buoy line throwing up a huge wake before they finally slow down. On the plus side, it gives me practice handling rough waters with the yak

My first Ranger had a place about 3 feet long in the top cap on the port side cracked in it because some yoyo in a bay boat pulled that on me while I was sitting near a concrete piling in a no wake zone. Instead of coming off plane he slowed down just enough to fall halfway off plane throwing a massive wake at me. At the time I did not know that he was responsible for the damage on my boat, or I would have gotten his boat tag number and reported it to the local GW.
