Great videos but I never recommend anyone buy Ascend kayaks. Learned recently trying to help someone find a replacement seat that no support is available from BPS who sell this brand and that repair parts are often available.

My opinion on bass fishing from a kayak is to get a 12 foot boat minimum with a wide beam. The deal is you're probably gonna want to stand and fish and the wider/longer your boat is the more stable it will be. My preference is a wide open deck so I can turn around without tripping over a dry box or transducer housing. For those reasons I chose the Nucanoe Pursuit. It's been a pretty good boat so far.

There are a lot of good options available today, and fishing kayaks have come a long way. The kayak subforum here and youtube will have a lot of information on what’s available, how to start looking, narrowing down what you’re interested in, etc.

I have a pedal kayak and it makes fishing a lot easier/more enjoyable and allows me to fish a lot longer. I agree with David above in looking for a wide, stable platform. I also agree with Dan that you should demo once you’ve narrowed your list down. Mariner Sails in Dallas does demo days, and they also sell a lot of different options.

Good luck!

Greg is the best!! Love watching him. Small correction here though, he fishes the Native Titan 10.5 mostly then the Native Slayer Max 10 on smaller waters. Each is natives propel peddle drive yaks and he has each tricked out very nicely. He talks about this in his latest videos. Major price difference in the ascend kayaks to the Natives Greg runs.

Watching his videos was the main reason Native was at the top of my list when searching around for fishing kayaks. I ended up with a used 2021 Slayer Max Propel 12.5 and I love it. Definitely recommend testing one out.

Loose the o ring. Hook straight into the bait or use those VMC rigs in the other post… When you use an O ring you dont get as good of hookups. To save money use the stick O baits from Bass Pro Shops. I have used every stick bait known to man and I feel like those are the best for price and durability. I do not know this as a fact but I am convinced Yamamoto makes them for BPS and they just have a little less salt.

I have 2 fully rigged Hobie PA14 360's with chirp and sidescan. If you'd like to try the best before buying something and are in S. TX hit me up and I'll drag em out and meet up with you. A pedal kayak is a lot easier on this old guy. thumb
