I just acquired two HDS 9" Gen 2 Touch graphs and I'm not getting a depth reading. I did get a reading for the first few minutes showing 55 feet in 4 foot of water. After that I have not been able to get a depth reading. Everything else looks good except no depth. Right now the transducer is mounted below the water line. Do I need to move it up and get it closer to the surface? Could the angle be off a bit? Or, is there something in the settings I can do in the graph to resolve the issue. I see install pics of the transducer being half in and half out of the water. Could that be the problem? I didn't have this issue with my older unit. Grasping at straws right now. I would appreciate your expert advise. Thanks!!

Check all your connections and if they are correct I would try doing a factory reset or restore on the unit. If that doesn't work you likely have a bad transducer.

Post a picture of where you have it mounted. Mine is good to about 60mph.

Every now and then, I'll have to switch the settings from auto depth to manual 10ft depth when in shallow water for the transducer to pick up the bottom, then once it does, I'll switch back to auto depth.

I had just launched and was at idle when it showed 55 ft. in shallow water. Lost depth at that point and it never recovered. Hope to be back on the water next week so I can play around with the transducer and graph. Might try a soft reset and a hard reset it that doesn't work.

Chris, It's mounted at the bottom of the hull/transom by the directions in the manual. Boat is in storage or I would post a pic.

I bought a boat in Sept and it had a 12" gen 2 HDS at the console. Turn on, and it would have depth. After a little while, I'd lose depth. I tried a new 2d transducer, tried different settings, ran dedicated power. Could not get the thing to keep depth. Seemed like vibration sometimes would cause it as I ran from spot to spot. Finally got tired of it and bought Carbons. Haven't had a problem since. I just wonder if the vibration on the lake and trailering eventually caused a part of solder joint to fail on the board.

Needless to say if someone wants a 12" Gen2 for mapping...make me an offer.
