Wife & I went for a few days. We did great at Kurth boating about 24 bass, 10 of them over 5lbs, using soft plastics in Watermelon Red, Chartreuse Pepper & Black Blue. Naconiche on Saturday was not too bad, boated about 16 bass all under 3lbs, using soft plastics in Green Pumpkin & Frogs up in the logs. Sunday was a different story, boated 2 fish with 4 bites. Guess we should have gone to Easter Service. Bass were chasing shad & had them all balled up & would not bite any bait we threw at them, spinner baits, tried cranks, swim jigs, soft plastics & some plastics with willow blade spinners in the tails, grubs & flukes. It was a bit frustrating but we still had a good time.

Sounds like you had a great time.. especially at Kurth! Haven't fished it myself but have heard great things about it. Went by it one time and found out you have to get a special permit from the city or something to that effect. cheers My confidence bait on Naconiche is savage gear 3d baitfish when the going gets tough on schooling fish.

they can't resist it on the fall

A good rule of angling philosophy is not to interfere with another fisherman's ways of being happy, unless you want to be hated.

Naconiche is probably the biggest overhyped lake in Texas IMO, close first to Athens

I'll go to Nacogdoches or Pinkston any day over that water hole. I'd love to get a chance on Kurth!

Lake Kurth is the 2nd hardest "public" lake to gain access to in Texas. Number 1 is McQueeney.

Probably translates to the top notch fishing I keep hearing about there. You give 100% public access to a small lake like that right off the main highway and it'll be fished out

Kurth was already destroyed by the internet long before this post. Used to be easy to go catch 35-40 lb bags out there ND never see a boat.

It is definitely a lot tougher than it used to be.... but in its first few years it was unbelieveable fishing

No public lake is someone's private Honey Hole. I have heard the "we used to catch" story many, many times. If you want to blame something for the ever-increasing amount of people fishing on your favorite lake, blame the internet and television. Also, 20 years ago, you didn't see dozens of kayakers, now they are everywhere. They want to fish, too.

Did you mean to tag me? I never said it was someone's private honey hole and I DID say it was way worse due to the internet. I'm confused here.
