It's turning out to be a really windy April with little rain. Moved all my plans around this week to fish Thursday because it was looking like the day with lightest winds.(5-10 mph) Wind not too bad...water temp 75-78 degrees & water level starting to rise a little. It should be at full pool in about a month. Fished about half day for Sunfish & half day for Bass. The bass bite was on fire between 2:30 & 4 pm. End up with 40-50 Bass & 40-50 Sunfish. TomRom was there as well & we both searched around 12 different Sunfish hot spots throughout the day, but only found one that was active. Most of the bass were small with the exception of 3 or 4 & almost all of the sunfish were big. Bass caught on 1/4 oz slider rig (Thank you Scott ))with 4" Yum Dinger in Elders Magic color & all sunfish caught on Gulp Alive minnow's in Chartreuse shad & Smelt colors. All fish released to fight another day, but ate my last pack of gils last week, so will need to start cleaning a few real soon... [Linked Image]

As always I enjoyed spot locking and fishing beside you Steve. Those gills are going to have to start getting together sometime soon.

I guess maybe the males make the nest? Couldn’t find any beds on the side imaging but they were around in the area.

Side Note: I have heard that Fayette is getting a lot of cast netters. More over past years. What is your take?

Thanks Yesenia...

Tom..There is so much discussion on the cast netter...right now you can go to the Bass section of TFF and read the Fayette latest post & get an earful. I don't like it, and have signed all the petition to regulate it, but those have been rejected because the surveys the state did recently showed no decline in gamefish populations. What bothers me more than the actual netting is the rudeness of many of the netters. Yesterday at the end of the day myself & Allen were on a calm spot catching fish when a large boat comes barreling in to where we were fishing & stops maybe 15 yards from where we were fishing...they all jump out of the boat and start throwing nets...just plain rude !

Who ever is in charge of Fayette should operate like both Calaveras and Braunig as far as netting Tilapia goes. Both lakes have commercial licensed Tilapia fisherman that net the fish from a boat. I have fished both Cally and Braunig a lot over the years and still fish the lakes often. I have never had one problem from any on the Tilapia fisherman. I have also seen the game wardens checking them on a regular basis.
