Just finished fixing up a 12 ft and now ready for a motor . I am thinking a 5HP will be big enough , or should I go bigger? [Linked Image]

Nice work sir! You could probably go with a 10hp. Maybe even a 15hp since it's a semi-v.

I almost bought into a 14' Lone Star for a duck boat when I was younger. Good aluminum boats!

I have an old 14' vee-hull tin boat. I have a 15 Yamaha 4-stroke(heavy!) on it, but I use it in the marshes on the Texas coast. I have powered it with a 1961 5.5 Johnson Twin, a 1983 Merc 9.8 2-stroke and the Yamaha. Don't know where you're gonna fish yours, but if you're on any sizable water, you'd be better of with a 9.9. I prefer twin cylinder outboards. Quieter and smoother than one-lungers. If you're gonna be on small lakes and rivers, a 5 or 6 would work fine, and are much lighter. Tohatsu and Suzuki make good-running 4-strokes that aren't too expensive. You can often find good deals on used outboards on Craigslist or Facebook Marketplace. Enjoy your old tinny! IslandJjim

Most older motors are going to be hard to find that are titled.
I think it wasn't until the nineties that they came out and proclaimed all motors must be titled.

Just one more cast!

If the motor has never been titled, it is a simple process to get a title from TP&W. I have done it on several older motors.
