Just finished fixing up a 12 ft and now ready for a motor . I am thinking a 5HP will be big enough , or should I go bigger? ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2022/04/full-37925-136084-new_boat_4.jpg)

Nice work sir! You could probably go with a 10hp. Maybe even a 15hp since it's a semi-v.
I almost bought into a 14' Lone Star for a duck boat when I was younger. Good aluminum boats!

I have an old 14' vee-hull tin boat. I have a 15 Yamaha 4-stroke(heavy!) on it, but I use it in the marshes on the Texas coast. I have powered it with a 1961 5.5 Johnson Twin, a 1983 Merc 9.8 2-stroke and the Yamaha. Don't know where you're gonna fish yours, but if you're on any sizable water, you'd be better of with a 9.9. I prefer twin cylinder outboards. Quieter and smoother than one-lungers. If you're gonna be on small lakes and rivers, a 5 or 6 would work fine, and are much lighter. Tohatsu and Suzuki make good-running 4-strokes that aren't too expensive. You can often find good deals on used outboards on Craigslist or Facebook Marketplace. Enjoy your old tinny! IslandJjim

I just called TP&W and your right on the older ones that have never been titled .I got a really nice 1967 Evenrude 9.5 Sport Twin off Market Place for $100.00 Already took it to my boat mechanic in Whitney to go through it . Looks awesome on my boat ..
