Stumbled across this editorial by Dr. Hal Schramm written in 2014 titled "You Are Wrong About Moon Phases." Goes against most of what I was taught about moon phases and the spawn. https://www.lurenet.com/blog/wrong-about-moon
The solution to any problem - work, love, money, whatever - is to go fishing, and the worse the problem, the longer the trip should be. --John Gierach

I've never put much stock into it personally. Primarily because it's something that I cannot control so I just fish when I can go no matter the lunar cycle. I have caught tons of spawning fish without the full moon being in cycle. To me it's also kinda like the cows laying down nonsense or wind from tbe east, fish bite the least stuff.

I was always told the full moon triggered the spawn. His information countering this is related to bass kept in captivity, so who knows. I've never really paid close attention to moon phases when fishing, but was always under the impression that a full moon, when the water had hit 58 degrees, was the trigger for females to lay their eggs.

I don’t know about the spawn but during the summer (June, July, August and September), night fishing three days before and three days after the full moon is fantastic (at least out west). Not to mention extremely peaceful .

I kept a bass in an aquarium for a few years. It would fan a bed around a full moon in the spring every year.

I'm not sure fish need to see the moon to know it's full.

I believe water temp, weather patterns are more important than moon phases for the spawn. But, it’s all kinda connected so hard to say moon phases don’t matter either. In the past it seems like a total alignment of moon, water temp, weather would produce a super wave of sorts. Gotta say though, my experience with big fish Feb-April looks kinda like the graph, no correlation.

I never heard that before . I was always under the impression 65-72 was the magic number for LM , SM and spots . Mostly leaning towards upper 60's .

I have tried to correlate moon phases to days I fish and my success --never made sense . A buddy once told me that the key was either three days before or three days after the full moon . It only made sense once --- my best day ever was three days before a full moon ---36 bass in five hours , best 5 went about 34 lbs without a DD . I went back to the same lake four days later , on a perfect full moon using the exact same techniques and ended up with 4 bass , nothing over 3 lbs .
