I’m tired of the plastic tubing that came with my older Powerpole.
Is there a hose upgrade kit without upgrading the pump etc….for $300-$400?

hydraulic hose shop can make some stainless for ya. no idea what the cost would be.
check seastar steering hoses if the fittings are the same, kevlar pro.

If anyone has a set of the old hoses I'd like to get them from you instead of them going in the trash. I want to see if I can get the fittings in a crimp version and possibly make some... even if I can source the fittings I'm not sure I can get the crimp dies for my old machine but it is worth a shot, seems like there may be a market for them.....

I had to change mine. If they blow out again i am going to try and find some inserts. What little poly/plastic turbing we used working in Chemical and Refinery's we alway used swaglock fittings with inserts. Inserts would more than likley fix the problem of blowing out at the net. Swaglock fittings are way to expensive but I bet someone makes inserts that fit that ID.
Thanks, Billy

Following this, if one of you guys figure it out I will buy a set for sure. I’ve lost count of how many plastic lines that have busted on me.

Following this, if one of you guys figure it out I will buy a set for sure. I’ve lost count of how many plastic lines that have busted on me. I don't have any to look at as I run Talons. In the pics it looks like maybe a 1/4" pipe thread going into the pump? And I am not sure on the pole end. I read that the older poles were 1/4" tubing and newer are 5/16". I have not found any -5 crimp dies for my machine, or even that size hose, but I do have -4 (1/4") and -6 (3/8") dies and have or can get the hose. I'm thinking that they use tubing for better flexibility, this hydraulic hose is pretty stiff, especially the 3/8" ID.

I wouldn’t call them flexible at all, they’re hard plastic that is super brittle. Power Pole will replace them as fast as you break them, for free, but it’s still a major pain. It’s almost a given they’ll break in the wintertime.

I know i should not say this because it will most likely jinx me, I have had 6 sets of PP since 2007, I have never had a hose issue, the only issue I ever had was a circuit board went out, was replaced on the same day by a PP dealer.

I just had my first set blow out on me this year. Installed in Summer of 2017, so I got almost 5 years out of them. Seems reasonable to me. Power Pole sent me all new hoses, ferrules and fluid for free.
Question for you guys that are having blow-outs annually, are you covering any section of exposed hose? I've heard that if they are exposed to sunlight they will crack way faster than if they're covered.
Thats my money fish Kris Winhold

You can upgrade to the new hoses but will also have to change out the stern brackets so the new hoses will fit.

I’m trying to remember if one ever broke in warm weather but I don’t think so. Seems like it’s always been in temps that your arms get wet and turn purple trying to lasso the damn thing to get it raised back up. That fluid is supposed to be somewhat environmentally friendly, which is good I guess because I’ve dumped a ton of it in the lakes lol.

None of mine have been exposed to sun. All have happened in my stern compartment. I have fluid all over everything in there. Maybe I have just gotten some bad hoses or maybe I have damaged them during install……but I have had 3 in the past year and a half.
Fishing the damn thing up is a PITA….so much that I am itching of adding a carabiner or something to make it easier next time.
