A couple of Saturdays ago, someone hit my trailer at Ray Roberts. It damaged the back left corner, tore up the rim and wheel and left a long scratch down the side of the trailer. Of course the person knew they hit my trailer, but didn't leave a note and no one was parked on that side of me when I retrieved my truck.

Is this a common thing for anglers to do? How many of you have had this happen to you?

There are those that have no respect of other people's property.

Protocol would obviously be leaving your contact info so you could get your insurance info to the person whose trailer you damaged. Sorry that happened to you. Unfortunately, I've seen many posts like this over the years.

The solution to any problem - work, love, money, whatever - is to go fishing, and the worse the problem, the longer the trip should be. --John Gierach

Happened to me and I had parked an area away from where others parked just for this reason. No note just a bent up fender. It seems the lake attracts the lowest form of life too often. Think about it, where do you find all the meth heads

People are just numskulls when towing a trailer. When they get back to the ramp they are ready to go and not thinking about it- one reason having a private ramp is really nice.

Scumbags usually do not have a protocol.

Always back you trailer in. Investment in a dash cam doesn't hurt either, you will either catch them or they will see you have a dash cam and leave a note. Drunks @ the boat ramp... happened for ages.

I learned to never park in an end space. I try to park away from everyone else. Last year I was lucky to have my catalytic converter stolen.

Had one hit several years ago. No note. But through TFF the "offender" was able to come forward and said he left a note, it had apparently just blown away. Sometimes good people make mistakes and it's nice to see they correct them.

I hit another trailer with mine several years ago. Broke my tail light lens with no visible damage to the other trailer however I left a note with my name and number in case they had any damage and while putting it on the windshield they pulled in. Guy thanked me and that was that.

That’s what I do. My boat trailer has been hit four times and my truck twice. Never had anyone leave a note. I think most of the time they don’t realize they hit it.

I hate photobucket.
