That’s right in line with what I found last weekend, even in the back of shallow coves on the warmest day we’ve had it was 62. While the days are getting warmer, the nights have just now started to warm up. Water warms up a lot slower than you might think. The spawn usually peaks around 65-68 degrees.

Were the brush piles still devoid of fish? Whenever I marked some crappie last time I was out they were in 15-20 feet and they were on the move, almost like you needed to spider rig or drift for them, but that’s not my cup of tea. Brush piles were bare, as was most of the other structure.

I went north of the power plant and found fish in 4 to 10ft of water. I caught 10 very nice fish in 2hrs on Sunday. lost 2 before I could get them in the boat and missed 4 or 5 bites.

This rain will for sure be nice to fill the lake up, but any pattern there was for the crappie will likely be completely disrupted for probably a week or maybe more.

The last few trips have been slow but starting to see warmer water temps (62-63 degrees). I have found more males in the mouth of creeks in 19 fow than I have found shallow. I typically try to hone in on trees, submerged trees and brush in 10-15 fow for staging females, but still not a lot of action on that pattern. The weather swings and cold snaps have them way behind the normal pattern for this time of year.

I haven't been out to Lavon yet this year. It looks like the level has risen quite a bit this month. Is the water level up in the brush?

Anybody been wading lately?

I will post a report if I get a chance to go this week.

Thanks
