Slept in a little longer than normal. As a result, launched at Belton Park Free Ramp next to Franks Marina on the lower end at 10:30am. 10mph winds. There was a high school bass tournament going on from what I was told. We ran to Cowhouse Creek to look around and just fished past the park in 30-40 feet of water with only catching a few on jigging spoons. Catch and Released 10-12inch whites to be caught another time. . Saw a couple other boats and witnessed no catching. Made a move to Girl Scout camp and winds built to 15-20mph. No luck there like yesterday,. Moved to cove across from GS point and trolled and found some fat white bass in 20-35 feet of water. Too many trees to troll resulted in jigging . However, winds were whipping up good. At 1pm, moved to big flat at Temple park. We free-lined trolled hell/pet rig and found only 8 fat females in 15-17 feet of water. At 1pm, winds 18mph gusting 24mph

Unlike yesterday, when the jigging bite was 29-31, I never found a consistant pattern. So we got off the water at 3pm and still enjoyed being on the lake.

Caught a couple 15-17 inch hybrids, a lot of small whites and kept the 8 magnum 14-15inch whites for fish tacos. Water temp was 64 degrees, mid-lake and still 58 degrees near dam.

Once I get a navionics chip, I will venture into cowhouse further, but never went into that creek. Also have a IPILOT but will put it on before next trip, Saturday-April 16th.

Per bass fishermen reports, the magnum white bass were on the windy points in shallow water. Makes sense .

I fished with my son and two grandsons on Sunday morning. We started in the Cowhouse area where we caught 78 whites on Friday. We had no luck and did not catch a single fish. We went on a boat training trip to give the two boys a chance to learn how to safely operate an outboard driven motor boat. They had fun for an hour and we ended up searching for fish on a 40' deep water hump. We found one school of fish and caught about 20 fish of which 12 were 12" to 14" keepers. All fish were released and hunger overcame the need to look for more fish. We headed for the dock at noon. Most fish were caught on Mepps longcast lures with silver blades. I was surprised how poor the fishing was compared to the previous week. I did observe live bait fishermen using fresh caught shad but they were not having good luck either. Bank fishing is about to bust wide open in the coming weeks.

Unless one knows the lake , in order to cut down scouting time , go to navionics.com and pull down my chart link and peruse said lake. You will see and eliminate non productive water.

Fished Monday with the Wolf from 8 to noon. We fished deep water humps with Mepps and slabs in 40 to 50 feet of water. We had 67 on the clicker with about 40 fish in the 12"-14" range. All fish released on an overcast morning. It was a nice day to be out with light wind and mild temperatures. Most females were still full of eggs. Water temperature was 58 degrees and a little below the 61 degree range on Sunday.
