Have a trip with a few friends set up for Cocodrie, La during the last week of May. Was wondering if anyone had been recently or had any suggestions or tips on navigating and getting around safely. We usually stay in TX for our summer trip, but decided to branch out and see some different country! Just looking to have a good time, catch some fish, and make it back in one piece! Any info greatly appreciated!

That time of year you should be able to go out to the barrier islands and hammer the trout. Pretty easy to get out there. About 11 miles or so. Cocodorie had a lot of hurricane damage. I have not been there since.

Thanks! That lines up with what I've been hearing.. Lot's of research and planning involved, all part of the fun! Hoping to have a good few days!

Cocodorie marina has some decent places. We rented a house on VRBO up the bayou a bit between the Sevin canal and first flood gate. The idle down or up the bayou takes a while. It’s aggravating.

Good to know! Sounds like where we are staying.. Would it be better to trailer the boat in the mornings down to the marinas? Or not worth the hassle?

We kept the boats in the water at the house docks. Sometimes we went north to Lake Boudreaux.
