When do the bluegill start getting really active in north Texas? It seems for me when i fish for them April through November i can catch them fairly easily and consistenly. Then once December hits all the way thorugh March they are slow and dont catch many of them. Are there any Lakes in North Texas that have a lot of big bluegill in them?

Just guessing Late April to early May. The warmer it gets the more active they will get.

I know that's right. The warmer the better. I read somewhere that blue gill don't spawn until the water temp is 80 degrees. I don't know if that is true or not but I do know the bite is faster when the water is warm. fish

Bluegill usually spawn in the water 70 to 80 degrees. Usually two to three times a year. On certain water bodies it could be four times a year. Sunfish are active right now. Caught some nice ones today. From now till November should be good times to catch the sunnies. hooked
