Thinking about going to Lowrance Ghost. Anyone that has run both, do you have some input both pro's and cons that you can share? Mostly spot lock and foot pedal feel and function. Thanks in advance.

Ghost no question. Quieter, faster, spotlock is more precise, trolling motor head does not turn, foot pedal is smooth. You can control power poles and other functions from the footpedal of the Ghost, the motor can be programmed to turn a certain direction when pulling it up to stow, the motor stops if you have it on when you pull the motor up to stow, I could go on and on.

I've used both
I like both currently running the Ghost
Still prefer the fortrex over both for crashing through reeds

This ^^ does not matter which graph you have, the ghost is a better motor

U can find a Ghost. Not so much on a Ultrex! I have put on more Ghost lately then Ultrex units due to shortage. Customers love them.

I had the Ultrex and it is a good T/M but I got a deal on the Ghost so I got it and like it better than the Ultrex. The Ghost is awesome.

I've had the opportunity to run a Lowrance Ghost trolling motor and I own a Fortrex. The Ultrex; like the Fortrex it is a brush trolling motor. The Ghost is brushless and is as quiet as a "Ghost". I'm an industrial mechanic and I've worked for a decade or two with brushless motors and when compared to brush type motors the difference is overwhelming. Brushless motors beat brush type motors at every level and category no matter how you compare them and the biggest thing you'll notice when you've ran both is the brush motors sound like a chainsaw on the high setting and are slightly quieter as you go to lower settings and the brushless motor is whisper quiet no matter what, it's probably quieter on the high setting than a brush motor is on its lowest setting. The brushless motors are usually a lot stronger as well. I'll be going brushless before to long for the reasons I've stated. I don't know what brand it will be yet.......

I have a first gen Ultrex. I wanted a ghost when they came out, but I got over the itch to burn money.

The Ultrex has had its share of woes. Two cables broken, multiple sets of mount bushings worn out, handle broke once, handle cable broken a few times, motor housing leaked after empaling a rock warranty covered it, even though it was my fault), steering sensor failed.

Saying all that! I’d buy it again. All but the motor and permanently mounted shaft were repaired by me, without removing the motor from the boat. I can order the parts and fix it myself 99% of the time. They are easy to work on and the parts are cheap enough. I have heard that the newer models are much better built, but that’s hearsay. I don’t know for sure.

If I bought the ghost, I’m not sure I could fix it myself, or even get parts easily. I FISH. A LOT!!! 3-4 days a week, year round. I would rather order parts and overnight em if I need to, to eliminate down time.

For the ease of maintenance, customer support, and parts availability, I’d pick the Ultrex over every other option….knowing what I know.

Having ran both the ghost blows the ultex away. No comparison at all.

The ultrex came out a couple of years before the ghost came out so naturally there would be more of them on the water.
