The General Tire Team Invitational will feature nine MLF Cup anglers, including REDCREST 2022 Champion Bobby Lane, competing as three, three-man teams. The anglers on each team will wear headsets that have them in constant communication with their teammates. This concept allows each team to work together and strategize in real-time on the water, shifting baits, techniques, patterns or areas as needed and creating a new type of excitement and drama.

Trying to have multiple groups of anglers all linked up and talking simultaneously live would be a logistical nightmare. Trust me, you’ll like the show

They definitely think out of the box. While most hard core tourney angler hate BPT most everyone does like the Heavy Hitters event and I could see them liking this as well.

So this isn't a knock on BPT, but it seems like they have taken fishing to a more reality-type fishing show, and less actual tournament fishing. I don't consider bpt the top level of competitive fishing because to me the 5 fish limit will always be king. They have, however, found a way to create fishing content for the less hardcore tournament guys. I feel like this is more geared to the youtube followers (which I AM NOT saying is a bad thing, especially if you're in it just to make money).

So I have to ask...why in your mind will the five fish limit always be king? Lots of sports have evolved over time to try and make them better. This is by no means a slam on your opinion, I am just curious as to why you think that. I have fished tournaments for as long as I can remember...all with the 5 fish bag....but I kind of really like that MLF has at least started thinking outside of the box a little. Just curious.

Never watched a YouTube fishing video. Been fishing tournaments since 1984 or 85. I much prefer BPT over 5 fish

The competition level defines top level, not the format.

Just noticed that it’s on the outdoor channel, do they typically play their shows other places (like their website) or will it only be on the outdoor channel? Obviously I don’t get that channel, hence the question. Pretty sure they don’t have anything on YouTube.
