If this tax proposal passes, it will apply to each and everyone on this forum, if not today then next month or next year or when ever the Democrats have the upper hand again!!! Daniel

Tax payers should require that they augment the new tax with a comparable revenue cut. Not of their picking either. Change social spending back to what they were under the Republican/Clinton era in the late 90's. That would result drop in spending. It hasn't a chance. Nor will it next year when the R's take back the House.

If you are fortunate enough to be subject to this proposed tax, I think you will still be just fine. Spoken like a worthless liberal Yep, pretty much what I was thinking too.

No way would I be in favor of unrealized capital gains in any shape or form. Does not matter if someone makes $100m per year or $50k per year. If this happens you can bet it will trickle down and we will all be paying unrealized capital gains at some point. It is simply not the way it should be done you should only be taxed as the investment is sold.

Great idea. Now, tell your yearly property tax. We are already paying tax on unrealized capitol gains. It's called annual property tax!

Any of y'all remember the reason for "Prop 13" in California?

good case of ask for the impossible and settle for less (which is more than people would stand for if asked for first)
this is a technique of this admin, and it works..act like you're settling for less when in reality you get more

Unless I missed something, doesn't it only apply to those with income over 100M? There should be a maximum amount of wealth that non-politician Americans should be allowed to possess. Everything above that amount should be redistributed into social programs and/or entitlements. Why should rich people have all the money when some of us are really hurting? Also, let’s go Brandon!

Maybe it would be an idea to cut spending? however, 81 million voters are getting what they voted for, so you "losers" just get out the checkbook, say thank you, get your jabs and get onboard with the liberal programs.

Umm it doesn't apply to us peasants? if you think taxing the rich doesn't hurt you, you need to take some economics courses

Umm it doesn't apply to us peasants? if you think taxing the rich doesn't hurt you, you need to take some economics courses History tells us it worked every time we did it, including during the Civil War and after both World Wars. The problem now is that increasing taxes is done just to cover spending increases. The only available answer to lower spending and in turn pay down the debt is restructure some of our large institutional programs like social services. Reduce unfunded liabilities. I believe the model with both a president and Congress willing to do it is the only scenario that will get it done. I am not holding my breath.

How do you tax something that is not income yet? You get taxed on the value of your portfolio? What happens when you lose money? Just sounds like another way to punish people for success, as the liberals have been doing since they joined the political scene in America. The amount of money they would save if they got rid of the bureaucratic red tape would outweigh taxing the rich. Do they not get enough of a cut of everything else? They already tax things multiple times over, cars, land, home sales, you name it they get a cut every time something changes hands. Put a flat tax on income, streamline deductions, and abolish or greatly reduce the size of the IRS. I don’t know why people are convinced this isn’t fair.
