Pulled up to one of our favorite spring time spots first thing Saturday morning on Ray Roberts. We caught a fish, partner broke one off on the hookset, had two more bites and then the dang otter shows up. He stayed around the boat and continued to follow us for a while. No more bites there even checking back a couple of times later in the day. Caught a few with one fat one getting ready to do the dance. Found water as warm as 63 in the warm part of the day. I have seen two otters dead on the road out there but have never had one mess with me while fishing before. That one might need a stealthy 22 cal attitude adjustment...
See you on the lake and have a great day!

So you pulled into a cove where an otter lives and you think you should shoot it because it messed up your fishing?

I hope its a joke, I think Otters are cool and enjoy seeing them, its part of being out doors enjoying the day.

Seeing otters usually indicates you are in healthy and clean waters.
The solution to any problem - work, love, money, whatever - is to go fishing, and the worse the problem, the longer the trip should be. --John Gierach

So you pulled into a cove where an otter lives and you think you should shoot it because it messed up your fishing? Yes! I killed a possum last week because he got in my hen house and killed some chickens. Same deal! I also do other things that are hard for some to understand like go to church, shoot animals for food, vote for freedom, you know all of those things that are thought of as evil now days. The otter was a first for me in a 40 plus years of fishing. Of course I am not going to kill it so relax PETA. I just thought it interesting how quickly the fish left and in the spirit of friendly conversation thought I would share.
See you on the lake and have a great day!

What does going to church, shooting animals for food and voting for freedom have to do with killing an otter because it messed up your fishing spot? Do you eat otters?

I am pointing out what are likely differences in our thinking. I don’t see this as different from killing coyotes on a deer lease.

So far, I don't think differently than you except for the part about killing an animal because it messed up a fishing spot. You answered my original question.

On a side note and not to detract from the fisticuffs ^^^^ I had an otter come out of a hole in a bank once and clip off my t-rigged worm.

To be clear not shooting! I live on the lake and critters are fun, I get it. The lake is tough so when you get bit straight away it is awesome. To have the otter spook the fish was fun to see but frustrating for the fishing. As far as where I will not say on this one but a pair of them was hit last year right at the corner of second bridge going East on Loan Oak Rd last year. Definitely otter and not beaver.
See you on the lake and have a great day!

OK I forgive you, I carry an AR in the boat ... I would have lit that otter up! ![[Linked Image]](https://c.tenor.com/gzsyXya4mNUAAAAi/smiley-emoji.gif)

We shoot the beavers and the otters live! I wish we could chase them out but at least they aren’t taking down trees!

Please don't shoot them....they are awesome! Been seeing them out there for years. Saw one Sunday. And yeah the fish quit biting when they swim through. Just like when a porpoise swims through at the coast.
 I hate photobucket.
