I bought a couple of them to try out for crappie fishing. Had them since last summer, and they worked Ok. Was fishing yesterday, standing on the side of the front deck and the entire guts of the reel fell in the lake. How nice. Never had that happen before. I threw the rest of it after those already departed parts. Time for an upgrade. It only cost about $40, but maybe it shouldn’t have disintegrated.

I have bought three of their Phantom baitcasters and have had very good luck with them. I have a Shimano Chronarch, and even after servicing, it sounds like a 12 volt winch. My Phantoms are smooth and quiet and I can cast them at least as far as the Shimano. The three reels are all on very different rods, and I have to cast them differently from each other. I needed some parts for one, and I got great service by e-mail, and cheap. I caught two big black drum, and a mid-slot Red Friday on two different reels. If Shimano didn't pay Pro Fishermen so much and sponsor big buck tournaments, they could sell their reels for less. I can buy 3 or 4 Piscifuns for what one Shimano costs. Bang for the buck! IslandJim
