Hey Y'all Any tips on fishing Buchanan this time of year. I was think about launching at Burnet county park and running up the Colorado river towards bend. Is that the best tactic? What about for focusing on stripers stripers instead of white bass? Would I do this same or should I stay in the main lake for stripers? Thanks!

I just came back from the state park. Caught 6 at dusk. 4 in the morning. Everyone I talked to had the same or less luck. The consensus was they haven't hit the high point of their run yet. In the 20 years I have been going, I have never seen the run hit its streak this late in the year. The white are in the river. Not much is known where the bulk of them are at.

The area from the first falls south of the park to the big house is always good for us. Troll craw and Shad colored rat l traps or small swim baits in that area and you will catch fish, bluebonnets are blooming they will be thick in that area. I’m still learning the lake for stripers and hybrids.

Check the main river channel right out in front of burnet county in 40-60 feet of water . And river channel at the end of the willows point , in front of council/morgan creek. Both hybrids/whites have been there in recent weeks.
Cannot help with upper river as I jig for all of mine.

Just got back from a weekend at the state park, and my buddy and I both limited out on Friday afternoon. First time we succeeded in doing that, and definitely we owe all the folks on the forum who've shared advice and tactics over the years. ![[Linked Image]](https://lastcastpodcast.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/IMG_20220401_193812_470.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://lastcastpodcast.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/25sandies.jpg) Note that in the first pic, Jamey is wearing the Coffee and Caddis hat I lent him. I'm pretty sure it's good luck. I would say that most of the fish on the stringer were females, so the run is definitely on.

The whites/sand bass are in the river but the bite is sporadic. I was told that last Saturday 4/2 was a good day with several people catching limits. Yesterday wasn't so great only a couple were caught by me. I talked to another guy who was headed in after sunset. He said he only caught one white.
