Fishytx, I grow up fishing the Pedernales River and also the Colorado River at Camp Lemons (Colorado Bend). We a lot of fun wade fishing for white bass. But the white bass are bigger at the Yegua.

Do y’all buy the permit for public land? I saw a few mention that they walked up the creek onto Wma land?

Fishytx, I grow up fishing the Pedernales River and also the Colorado River at Camp Lemons (Colorado Bend). We a lot of fun wade fishing for white bass. But the white bass are bigger at the Yegua. I can remember years where there were huge whites at Reimers. One year there were so many fish, you could walk across the river on top of them. Only once though. Reimer is like most areas, one year it's awesome then three years hardly nothing. It all depends on the rain and when we get it. Muddy water flow shows fish how to get out of the lakes and upstream. The Yegua had a good rise in February that allowed these fish to travel up to Irwin bridge. Any time you can catch good numbers at Irwin, then you can count on a good year through out the creek. And it helps that the lake level was above full pool too. Travis is so low now days, you might get them around the 71 bridge area, which is 7 to 8 miles downstream from Reimers. Reimers is only good when the lake is at full level. Austin and small towns around that area are sucking to much water out of it. Lake Travis no longer stays at full pool like it use to. But I really do miss fishing Reimers. Real clean water with visibility of 8 to 10 feet, clean sand under your feet, it was just awesome.

Looks like a tornado south of Dimebox headed towards the Yegua. What a crazy day. Be safe out there.

I didn't look at J-Moes map, but I dumped 1-1/8 inches out if my rain gage this morning. I'm located on the water shed of the west creek. I have no idea how much fell in east or middle Yegua. But it should help out the fishing. Newman's bottom may be closed as well. They don't want the road all tore up. Or the creek could be out of its banks, no one knows till someone makes the drive to check it out. I thought about fishing the steps, I know when the water turns dirty, the fish bite really turns on. People catch nice size fish as well as big numbers. Vut first I have a few things here at home I need to get done before I do anything else.

From my understanding, you can fish the WMA area, but you have to have hunters orange on. Anything upstream from Irwins bridge requires hunters orange to be worn.

Thanks for that update on Newman's bottom. This rise could go either way, improve it or ruin it.

The smaller creeks might have a quick run in them. Rainfall varied across the lake and different watersheds.
