If you buy sets instead of starting seeds ; you might want to go ahead and buy them

Bonnie veggie sets are $4.48 at Lowe's ( 3" pots and 6-packs) .

Vendor told me that they were expected to get quite a bit higher by spring .

Just left Tractor Supply. They had a really good selection out of Bonnie's. The 3" pots were $4.78

Last year the freeze killed all of my started from seed plants.

It cost me around 100 bucks to fill up my two 4'x18' raised beds with tomatoes, sweet and hot peppers, squash and okra.

My first sticker shock was at Home Depot, so I shopped around and the farmers market on Belknap in Ft Worth and the Russel Feed Store had 3"-4" pots for cheaper prices.

consider the ROI [return on investment]...good plants = good production...i'm gonna get my plants from a nursery in Nacog even tho they're cheaper at Lowes...much better quality

I've never had a quality issue with Bonnie. What I don't like about them is they put out the same specific varieties every year. What I like about nurseries is you can typically find harder to find or better suited varieties.

Always good plants but get 'em early before the store lets 'em die . I scored some really nice ghosts and habaneros as well as a bunch of "Candy" onions .

Bonnie has added Ghost and Shishito to the lineup over the past few years or so. They had Shishitos and Ghost at TSC the other day. Should have picked up a Shishito. Great pepper and it's been a few years since I've grown them. I don't buy many Bonnie plants, but the Habaneros and Tabasco plants I've bought have been great. If they ever get into the Scotch Bonnet game then we're talking baby. My nursery typically will have a SB.

Bonnie carries Scotch Bonnet online. Started last year with their partnership with Hot Ones, I believe!

I normally buy the 6 packs. 2 years ago they were hard to find. I am going to buy earlier this year and not put in the ground until threat of freeze is over.

If you are in the Denton area Dennis Farm supply has plants for $2 andhehas a lot of varieties and stock.

I always make a trip to Athens for bass fishing in the spring for a half day of fishing and then I will go by Harris Nursery in Tyler on the way home. Last year they were selling flats of tomatoes which have 4 x 9 trays - that's 36 plants for $12. that's .36 cents a piece. you can't beat those prices. Every year they go up just a tad bit, but it's still worth it. I will put out about 50 tomatoes and 24 pepper plants each year. I have collected about 60 5 gallon buckets and will just cover them up when the frost hits. Pics from last year.

Got a Shishito yesterday at Lowe's . Gonna try 'em out . They recommend using them green in Japanese cooking . I don't do a lot of that . Any suggestions, Derek ?

Shishitos are great. I have always picked them when they are green. I like them pan fried with a little oil or grilled. Great snacking pepper.
