Finally kicked off the 2022 catfish season here on the Tennessee River. Saturday is my only day to fish and it seems every Saturday this year has had nothing but bad weather. Last Saturday was no different. Water release from G Dam is over 100k and it generally flows towards the West. Saturdays wind was easily 20mph from the West, which means the wind was blowing against the current. Out of the 30 miles or so of the Tennessee River we usually fish, we could only fish in one small area. Ended up with a 8 and a 17. The new Mad Katz rods handled both fish really well in the heavy current. We did have one visitor, a doe. She came crashing through the trees and brush and jumped into the river. Swam right past our boat and back onto shore where she scrambled back up the mountain like a billy goat. I had no time to grab my phone before she disappeared.

I'll be so glad when the TVA drops the water release enough for us to start catching skipjack again. Happy to catch these two as we didn't move over 200 yards the whole day.

Carey, I just won a project in Shelby County Alabama. It is just outside of Birmingham. Little less than 2 hours from Guntersville. I will be working on that for about the next three years. Looking forward to getting more time on the Tennessee river! banana
