Livewell open/closed selector is stuck in open postion. Figure some kind of blockage, so I didn't force it, for fear of damaging it. Anyone got suggestion in how to clear the problem?

Last time mine was stuck was because of mud in the valve. (was stuck on the bank after a weight in and had to get on it to get off the bank and forced mud back up the drains on the back) After replacing them a few times over the years I just gave up and starting using plugs in the livewells. Its a pain to remove the oil tank and charger plate to access the valves.
