I have a K&N in my truck. I've cleaned it with the kit about 3 times so far. Has anyone here that has a K&N, have you ever cleaned it with something other than the KIT ??

been cleaning mine with dawn, 2 tblspn in a full sink, let soak about 15 min. then rinse with hot water, let drip for about 15 mins. then install.

I also got one of the k&n covers due to all the dust out here, it helps a whole lot.

shop around, they can be pricey at some sellers, gave 25 for mine and felt ripped off but still worth it, no dust on filter for months.

I clean mine with simple green.
I buy the concentrate and then dilute with hot water straight from my water heater in the garage.

Let it soak until you want to come back and mess with it. For me, that might be a week sometimes.
Rinse well with the hose in the yard.
Throw on top of the air conditioning fan outside the house.
Once dry, oil using the K&N oil.

Now days a K&N filter is over $70. The cleaning kit about $17 at O'Reilly's here. I'll stick w/ the manufactures kit.
