I'm looking to catch some walleye. Anyone have suggestions for walleye fishing close to Texas? I was wondering about Oklahoma or Arkansas.

my best walleye came from below tenkiller dam on a large rattle trap, was fishing for striper. was just under 6# and made for an excellent dinner that night. Walleye, Sauger & Saugeye Walleye make their home in major Oklahoma lakes including Broken Bow Reservoir, Canton Lake, Fort Gibson Reservoir, Foss Lake, Grand Lake of the Cherokees, Great Salt Plains Lake, Kaw Lake, Keystone Lake, Lake Altus-Lugert, Lake Carl Blackwell, Lake Ellsworth, Lake Eufaula, Lake Hefner, Lake Lawtonka, Lake Murray, Lake Stanley Draper, Oologah Lake, Pine Creek Lake, Robert S Kerr Reservoir, Sardis Lake, Skiatook Reservoir, Sooner Lake, Tom Steed Reservoir, Waurika Lake and Webber Falls Reservoir. You may also find occasional walleye in the rivers feeding these lakes. https://www.aa-fishing.com/ok/oklahoma-walleye-fishing.htmlmurray or broken bow and sardis would be best shot this time of yr. 2-3 more weeks from 40 north with the snow they just got.

In Texas, Lake Meredith is the only lake where you can catch them consistently. And your timing is good since 90% of them are caught in the spring. Walleye were also stocked heavily in Wheeler Branch, but they only catch a few there every year. ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2022/03/full-107020-132829-df8e0af1_2411_4090_87e3_0b26d2e42002.jpeg)

Meredith is the way to go. Should come up from the depths here in the next few weeks as water temps rise.

Back in the day , you could walk the rip rap at the dam and catch them on ralpalas 3 ft from the bank. The dam is probably no access these days. They spawn at night on the rocks.

Try Lake Murry up in OK. They are small in that lake but they let you keep the undersize ones. Lots of small mouth in there as well.
I have lobbied for TPWD to put saugeye in Possum Kingdom but they ignore me, as well as the wishes of most fishermen.

They were stocked at PK back in the day. They put Northern Pike in there too and some folks I know said they used to catch some good ones down at the dam. TPWD has a nice fish hatchery below PK and could raise saugeye there but they are tone deaf to what people want. Too busy stocking trout in city ponds.

Broken Bow has walleye. We caught them last year this time on jigs off rocky points late in the day. Tight lines!
