Okey Doke. . . I bought a Garmin 93sv this weekend. It will replace my Humminbird Helix Mega SI on my Kayak. I plan to get Livescope soon. First I have to decide whether to get the old one on sale, or pay the extra $400 for the new and improved version.

The question I have is. . . Will I need two head units? One to show my Livescope, and one to show my side scan and down scan. I’d like to be able to use my new 93sv for side scan and down scan while looking for brush piles and other crappie homes, and then press a button to switch to Livescan once I’m ready to fish.

Hopefully y’all understand my question.

I guess what I’m asking is, do I lose my ability to use sidescan with my 93sv once I hook up the Livescope?

I have the same set-up. You don’t need another head unit. It will work just like you want it to….

Yes on needing two transducers and I don't know why they haven't incorporated all of that functionality into a single transducer. It would sure make for a much cleaner install.

Good to hear. If I had needed 2 head units, I was going to leave my Humminbird on the kayak, then add the LiveScope with the 93sv. I was not wanting to do that so I could recoup some of my money by selling the HB. Thanks guys.

On a yak IDK why you would use SI when you have livescope. You can scan with the LS just as fast I would think!

Yeah, this is the ignorance I have on Livescope. In my Yak, I peddle along with side scan looking for structure. With the side scan, of course, I can look 50’ out to the right and left for that structure. I do not have a list of waypoints showing me crappie hot spots, so I gotta do some searching. Anyway, without knowing more about Livescope, I just figured the side scan would give me the ability to search a broader area. I just wanted to make sure when I hook up my Livescope, I would be able to still access my side scan.

You don't need two head units...the 93 will do all you need. Go with the new gt56 ducer if you can afford. For side scan. Then simply set your preset #s to what you need. #1 maps, #2 side imaging, #3 livescope, #?? Custom?

You will need two transducer mounts though! But could do both on one pole if you want.
