I have only been to the lake twice and from what I hear the fishing is best above the 155 bridge. I went up past the bridge last weekend but the lake seemed very low, is it still just as good up north? Should I just get up there and drop the trolling motor and start fishing? I have managed to catch fish on the south end but all on the smaller size, I would like to learn the north end also. Thanks for any help!

Ditches and drains and points (main lake and secondary) is where I would start looking. I met a TPWD biologist at LOP ramp a few years back who said there are more fish per acre above 155 then almost anywhere else in the state. Exception being Palestine.

I love this lake for sure, only fished it once in a BFL tournament under extreme pressure; a huge tournament and holiday traffic, yet it produced fish everywhere we went, and we fished all the way from the dam to the most extreme areas of the upper end.

Thanks guys. It seems like an awesome lake. I’m just trying to learn it as I haven’t been stationed here long and have only had the chance to go a few times.

The lower the better jiff. Does anyone know for sure if they're lowering the lake to work on 155 bridge?

There might also be as many fisherman above the 155 bridge right now

Rumor has it they are going to lower LOP 6' to 7' to work on the damn. I know they are getting ready to take out the SH 155 bridge on the north end to put in a new four lane bridge. The exit up and around FM 729 to the old Lone Star entrance is going to make for a long drive for a while.

There is also a bridge on 729 that they are going to be working on when the contract is completed.

Funkbusters had a tournament on Pines Saturday and a team brought in 36 lbs. they came in 2nd!!!!! 37# won, 36# 2nd and 30# for 3rd. That's giving Falcon a run for the money! The state TBF tournament on Caddo had a Middle school team weigh in 23# and the high school tournament the next day had 30# for 1st (2 young ladies) and 28# for 2nd

The guy that got 2nd at pines with 36 was the captain of the girls that won state with 30 on caddo. I'd say he has them figured out right now.

Livescope has changed the way he fishes. I know him personally and he’s helped me a lot on it. It’s all on what to look for. Livescope works great in 3ft of water also
