fishing a night tournament this weekend with my wife. Basically i’m looking for some opinions on “do nothing” lures that she can throw. she’s gonna have gloves on so i don’t want her throwing soft plastics when she won’t even be able to feel a bite or see her line move, let alone make accurate casts lol. I’m thinking about having a couple whopper ploppers tied on some braid for her to just blind cast and reel all night. thoughts????

Drop shot or senko would be what I would her using. That way the tug would be followed up by a reel down hook set.

Why not let her throw a Texas-rig. She might surprise you and catch a fish. I've seen a lot of people catch bass who never knew they were there until it almost pulled the rod from their hands.
The solution to any problem - work, love, money, whatever - is to go fishing, and the worse the problem, the longer the trip should be. --John Gierach

A lot is depending on where you are fishing. Have her drag a senko on a light t-rig, it works 100% of the places
He without sin cast the first shiner.

Full moon on Friday. If the water temps are >60deg F where you will be, and windy, I'd throw a shallow diving baby bass colored square bill all night. If around a lot of snags, dragging and slowly retrieving a wobble head along the bottom.

Square bills, floating worm, jerk baits, and swim baits. Like they said depends a lot where you're fishing.

Spinnerbait, only 1 hook to snag you with.
The jig is also good, definitely not a whopper plopper, that has emergency room written all over it.

I've been fortunate enough to win a couple of tournaments with my wife. But I'm also very fortunate that my wife is eager to use whatever technique I'm using to catch fish. Our most recent tournament she was learning to flip/pitch bushes and caught a few!

A wacky rigged weightless Senko. She might even pull her own weight, or catch a big one.

Black & blue or black & chartreuse t-rig craw worm with the lightest weight you can get away with.

Black spinner bait w/ a hubcap sized Colorado thumper in gold or copper…hard to hang up and catches fish. Slooow, slow thumps.

My late father in-law used to drag a watermelon red brush hog behind the boat while i was up front casting. He kicked my tail more than once.

Give her a 1 1/2 oz jig and let her punch some grass, ok maybe not set her up a drop shot or weightless fluke
