Can anyone explain the differences between Coppernose vs Native Bluegill?
# of potential annual spawns as well as potential size?
Thanks

Thanks for the info.
My dad has a place with an 8 - 12 acre pond about 45 miles south of New Braunfels.
After the freeze week of '21 we lost all Tilapia and Rio Grande Perch but noticed that the native Bluegill had rebounded.
Last spring we then added over 600 Coppernose Bluegill to the pond. All of which were of spawning size according to the hatchery.
May look to stock coppernose bluegill in another smaller pond to harvest and release into the bigger pond for bass forage.
Oh and for eating as well.

Copper Nose are the best. I have a private pond not to far from where I live. The owner lets me fish it anytime. It is loaded with nice bass and Copper Nose Bluegill. Pond is also spring fed and seldom gets all that low. Both bass and Bluegill are healthy and full of fight. Love fishing the pond with my flyrods. I think the Copper Nose get bigger than the hybrids.
