is it wrong to throw a buzz bait or whopper plopper as a co-angler? if the other guy is finesse fishing or flipping for example?

Not at all. As long as your making courteous casts. Part of being a successful co anger is reading what your boater is doing and make adjustments to optimize your opportunities.

StankyGato.

Here is a link to a post from a long time ago. I still stand behind what I said all these years later. It's something that helped the learning curve and makes fishing as a Co Angler a better experience.

One time, my boat was broken down and I decided to enter a tournament for the first time as a co angler, I figured this will be a fun experience. First spot we rolled into was a narrow channel that got more narrow as we went. I was throwing top water while he was flipping the docks. I immediately caught a 3#'r which I could tell pissed him off. He started to quite obviously make it harder for me to fish so I started rocketing my shower blow all the way over to the other side of the channel bank. He then tells me I can't fish that bank because he intends on fishing it when he turns around. I told him according to the rules that I have anything behind the center of the boat and if he didn't like it than he could take me back to the dock. For the rest of the day I had to listen to him tell me how good of a fisherman he was while we beat the banks all day catching dinks during the post spawn. In the end he had like 5 fish for 13#'s way out of the money and I had 3 fish for 8#'s and 4th place as co angler.

The only time I don't like the co-angler throwing something noisy is when I am doing a plop plop with a top water and he thinks it is best to throw his buzzer 10' to the right of it.

Now that I only fish as a co-angler I am very aware of where the boater is casting and try not to get on his spots.
