I have a week long trip planned with my brother the beginning of April to Amistad and Falcon. I fished both on a regular basis but haven't been to Amistad or Falcon in about 10 years after moving away from San Antonio. I would appreciate any advice from those that have fished either lake recently.

I know both lakes are low right now and some boat ramps may not be an option. Are Diablo East boat ramp and Box Canyon both usable at the current Amistad water level?
How is launching for Falcon at county boat ramp in Zapata vs Tigre vs State Park at the dam with the current water levels?

Is Champions Inn a decent place to stay at Amistad or do you have any other recommendations?

Where would you stay at Falcon? I've stayed a Oso Blanco in the past. It was ok but was considering the Holiday Inn.

We have considered hiring a guide at one or possibly both lakes for a day. If you have any guides you would highly recommend, we would look into available dates to see if it would work.

East Diablo and Box Canyon ramps are currently open as is Air Force boat ramp.
I've not heard any reports on the Champion Inn. I believe its the old Lakeview Inn that was re-opened. River Street lodging with Tommy is a great place to stay if he's not booked. Also might try the cabins there by Loraina's cantina on Hiway 90. Lot of the motels in town stay booked up with DPS and border help.
Give Stan G. a try if looking for a guide on Amistad. https://amistadbass.com/

At Falcon the county ramp in Zapata is fine and on concrete.
At the state park launching is fine and off the bank but it has not been an issue.. Four wheel drive is a plus but not needed as of late.

You can launch at El Tigre Island but it is a bit of a rodeo to get there.. But people are launching there everyday.. 4X4 is a plus..

If you want off the beaten path you might check out Amigo Inn.. It is not in town but down close to Beacon Lodge, which will also work.. Both of these two you can park your boat motor in your room.. Almost..

Holiday Inn is fine, a bit noisy, but your boat is out in the open parking lot..

Fishing has been good on warm water days.. Good numbers of quality fish..

If you make it down here stop in and we'll talk about where and what..

Sorry I didn't include a fishing report. My last trip was a tournament Feb 26-27. Fishing was better than most of us had figured with both size and numbers.
My best deal was 20-35 ft deep ledges near hydrilla or spawning flats on Saturday....Sunday in those same ledges except fish had moved out to 45-60 ft.. Caught big fish of the tournament (7.72) in about 50 ft of water-- she had already spawned. This next few weeks most fish should be up and doing there spawning.
