I took a partial day off from work on Wednesday and I've been so busy since I haven't had time to post this. Had a really good day with somewhere in the neighborhood of 350 pounds of fish caught in a couple of hours. We boated 6 fish over 30 pounds with the best being right at 50. Once again the fishing was fast and furious so we missed some pics and lost a few really good ones. One at the net which we think was around 48 to 52 pounds. That's really frustrating! All of the fish except for one came in 40 fow. Almost all of them came in the last two hours of light as well.

We caught everything on gizzard shad and perch with about an even number on each. The bigger fish came on gizzards. The one strange thing I noticed is the ones we caught on perch where pecked at and played with a lot before we would get a takedown. All the ones on gizzard shad were slammed first time.

We were drifting really slow pulling boards with the trolling motor at about .3 mph. The biggest fish was "accidentally" released before we could get a pic which will probably haunt me the rest of my life.

It was a great time and an eye-opener on what the fish are doing right now. The main lake water temp was 50 degrees. I'm sure there was some water that day in the shallows that was in the upper 50's. We searched a lot of mid-depth areas without any luck. We finally went back to deep water just to see and there they were. With this yoyo weather we may get a few more shots at the deep bite.

Solid work Geno! Some days (like the one you just had) the fish are in a feeding frenzy and you could throw about anything and you'll look like a hero! Last time I was out I caught everything on Gizzards. Strange how that works sometimes. Ever since it got cold the blues haven't given shad a sniff and now, even though the water is still on the cold side, they seem to be back on it. I am with you on the yo yo weather and yeah, I'll take another swing at the deep bite but I am ready to not have to bundle up like an Eskimo to go fishing. Gonna give 'em a go tomorrow. My hands are starting to hurt just thinking about catching bait...

Nice work Geno! Iโ€™d be out deep if I was fishing this weekend but weโ€™re off the water headed up to Oklahoma to see Ryan Bingham. ๐Ÿค˜๐Ÿค ๐Ÿค˜

FANTASTIC!!

You are really getting 'pro' with your latest expeditions. That really is doing very well and cracking the code for sure. How addictive this cat'n is!

You have done the work, and it's paying off, BIG TIME!

clap

Chris, I'm jealous man. For those of you who don't know who Ryan Bingham is, go to YouTube and listen to "Wolves". One of the greatest songs ever written. Ryan is the real deal!
