We are there as far as I am concerned. I don't make my living doing it, so I won't go broke practicing for it. I will definitely be fishing closer to home.

87 octane is projected to be $4 a gallon by Memorial Day. The non-ethanol gas could cost more than that.

I have few pleasures in life, gas prices aren't going to stop me from fishing.
However, I do live less than 5 minutes from Fork and within an hour of a ton of other great lakes.

I'm glad I do not tournament fish any more. The ramp is about 1/8 mile from the house. My Mercury 150 4 stroke sips gas compared to my old 225 2 stroke. I fish once a week so I don't believe my habits will change any time in the foreseeable future.

I said I was going to give up Copenhagen when it got to $2.00 a can and I'm still dipping snuff. My addiction to fishing is just as strong so I don't see much changing. If it get's bad enoungh I'll just use my Oklahoma Credit Card and siphon some high octane out of Addington's Lambo. I'm fortunate to live in North East Texas with several great lakes close by and with our schedule right now we don't have to travel too far.

I'm with Txduckhunter, but I sure hope this turns around before too long because we plan on traveling more next year.

Not sure, but with the next month of scheduled tournaments I'm not looking forward to the costs. 3-3 day weekends coming up with a couple hours of travel each way. Gas is going to be more expensive than the motel fee's

I predict 6 to 7 dollars a gallon, maybe a little less in Texas.

I won't cut back anything. I don't drive much during the week so I'll fish and hunt wherever the fish and birds are located.

Cut with her golden oars the silver stream,
And greedily devour the treacherous bait.

My uncle and I talked about this while fishing yesterday. He suggested $5 would make people cut back. I told him that I remembered having the exact same conversation with a friend of mine in the 70s. He said that when gas got to $1 a gallon the bass boats would disappear from the lake. I thought he was right. We were both very wrong.

I think $10 might see some of the guys with older rigs cutting back, but if you have $90k in a boat and $60k in the truck, I don't think the price of gas will slow many up. What WILL slow them up is no gas, or gas rationing. There are people in the world who would absolutely love for that to happen, and there are many in power right here in our own country.

I know it will limit my travel trips to other lakes....I live 8 minutes from a boat ramp. I doubt that drive will stop me from fishing. Besides, I have a 150 4 stroke....it's good on gas compared to others.
