Does anyone know for a fact that Lake Bastrop has "crawdads" in it? I have never seen any. I was wondering how productive a crawfish crankbait color would be.

Be safe,

Set a couple of trap to find out really quick. You may have to move them around a couple of times to differet areas in the lake. Try to pick rocky areas, or close to vegetation. Bait them with cut bait; any old fish will do.

Each person you work with holds some promise to your future success.

Never been to that lake, but most lakes I will walk the banks at night with a bright flashlight and look through the bank vegetation and/or flip over rocks. One lake I fish the crawfish are a deep color of red because they live in vegetation. However another lake I fish is rocky and the crawfish are more of a green color.

never fished bastrop but pretty much any lake in the area should have them. fished canyon lake a lot and it has a lot of them.

like said, set a trap and see what happens, we used to use half a strip of bacon in the trap.

Just go out in front of the dam with a 4"-5" flutter spoon, you will catch all the bass that you want.

When I was younger I would go out to Cranes Mill Park at night and catch about 50 crawfish for bait within an hour. Great bait for bank fishing at night!

Lake has plenty.

We've caught a lot of bass with claws and antenna sticking out of their throat. We've seen them at the North Shore ramp.
Red rattletraps and crawdad shallow cranks works.

Go out at night with a bright flashlight. Go on the bank, where there's rocks. Shine into the water and look for crawdads
