Ok, let me give this a shot, and if you're welling to go to some of the area parks you'll be in better shape.

Austin -

Emma Long Metropolitan Park
Red Bud Isle
Ladybird Lake-Lamar Beach Metro Park Ball fields & a footbridge over the lake
Rowing Dock - (rent a fishing kayak)

Outside of Austin -

Jones Brothers Park
Sandy Creek Park
Brushy Creek Lake Park
Old Settlers Park
Bullfrog Pond
Lake Pflugerville

Thank for the help. I am in downtown Austin at the Hilton Austin. Not far from the river but good to drive 30 minutes or so if needed. Thanks for any tips!!

Closest spot would be Lady Bird Lake. Just drive or hike to the trail around the lake. Plenty of spots to fish along the bank. If you wanted to drive 30 to 40 minutes northeast there's the South San Gabriel River just north of Taylor, Texas. You should be able to catch a few white bass this time of year. You could also drive about 30 minutes to Brushy Creek Lake Park in Northwest Austin. You may be able to catch some crappie up shallow along the banks. It's hit or miss and I haven't had a chance to try it yet this year. Hope this helps.

They say that you can catch white bass around Red Bud Isle this time of year. I've never verified that, but there's a lot of shoreline to work, and plenty of friendly dogs at hand. Parking will be terrible.

There are literally thousands of small tanks (1ac or so) all over austin, just about every newer neighborhood has at least one. many new commercial developments also have tanks. the is one behind la frontera in round rock that holds quite a few large bass

I didn't lose him at the boat. I shook him off cause I didn't want my hands to get "fishy"

Interesting. I've never caught a crappie out of Lady Bird Lake. Of course I don't usually target them there either. Usually bass or bream.
