Seeing a boy this young watching the sunrise with a sense of awe is worth more than I can put into words. I took a day off just to spend it with him. We haven't been fishing together in a while. He is growing into a boy who loves the hot Texas sun but he is not a fan of the cold. I thought it was a good day to get him back on the water. After seeing him react to the sunrise, my day was made. What ever happened from here on out was a bonus. We caught us some shad and started soaking 'em deep. Saw fish mid depths too. Water was at 49 degrees but quickly got above 50 once the sun got up. Got a 14 pounder 10 minutes in and thought the bite was gonna be on. Went a couple hours after that with nothin. About 10:45 the bite started to pick back up. Got a 6 then a 17. I had heated the pool and told him we were gonna go swimming when we got home. He was ready for that. I said lets give it a couple more minutes. He didn't want to but just a few minutes after I told him we were gonna stay a few more minutes this happened... [video:youtube] https://rumble.com/vw9u7n-wyatts-new-pb.html[/video] 29 Pounds. A new PB by 1 pound. Since last fall he has set his PB 3 times. 26, 28 and now 29 pounds. After that, we packed up and headed for the barn. Got some McNuggets on the way home and he ate poolside. If you're 5; I don't think your day can get a lot better than that. I know it can't if you're Poppy watching him play it out.

Great pics Tim, and I am sure another day of great memories for the kid. "it's hard to reel fast as this guy is strong"

Just to add, gotta love Texas! You and I were freezing our butts off this past weekend, and now Wyatt's wearing a T shirt a few days later.

Tim, that's pure gold. I would trade 5 trips on the water for one day like that with one of my grands! That boy never gave up and I love the victory holler at the very end!

Days like that are what itโs all about buddy! Iโm looking foreword to the shallow water action with clickers singing and reels gone wild so the boys can get more involved. Wyatt the Riot is getting big!
