The cost of doing these yourself are hands down cheaper... If you are mechanically inclined, you definitely can get this done. It truly is not that hard once you do it. I would try a manual pump..just for the taking your time part. You truly need to take your time, first time, and you will see that the cost versus you doing and waiting for boat mechanic and cost of up to 1,000 dollars is truly priceless. Leave the head work and timing belt stuff to pros

Just an opinion

I've done my 250 SHO and a few friends engines several times. It's not too difficult and definitely cheaper. There are a couple videos on YouTube that show how to do it. I've used manual and electric pumps. I personally like the electric pump better, and I found it on amazon for like $20. The main caution that I've heard several times is not to overfill it and warn up your engine before draining it.

It’s pretty easy. An oil extractor will work. They also make a tube the screws into the back of the motor where the drain plug is. Tilt the motor up and attach the tube. Tilt the motor down and let the oil drain. Easy as it can be.
