Got to the lake at 8:15...it was 36 degrees...bundled up & headed out. Fished 2 favorite spots for the first couple hours...nada...skunk smell drivin me crazy. Water temp had dropped from the mid 60s last week to 59 degrees this morning. Moved out to deeper water in the middle of the lake & started catchin. Ended up with 47 bass & "0" bluegill. Every time I rig up an ultra lite & try for gils, the bass just keep hammering that Gulp Alive. Oh well...not a bad problem to have. Light winds and beautiful afternoon on the lake. Water temp did make it up to 61 by 5pm. Pretty busy, but not terribly crowded...maybe 20 trucks in the parking lot... [Linked Image]

As always. Great post and some super fish Steve. cheers

Side Note: I kind of figured the Bluegill would be harder to find after this latest front! Going to be hit and miss for the Bluegill until spring! thumb

Thanks for the report brother! I bet your trolling motor batteries were completely drained fighting all that wind.;-) I love seeing those calm seas.

I heard a rumor that the guides on Fayette were trying to book a trip with the 'Master of Fayette". fish

Steve strikes again. What was your largest one caught? Some of the pics like like you were pushing 4.

Thanks Chuck...I am so ready for spring...
Leo...There are no crappie in FCL...From what I understand there were crappie in there when the lake 1st opened up, but died off rather quickly due to the very hot water in the summer...
Alan...Ha Ha...The guides on FCL are very good at what they do...If I was to go head to head in a bass fishing contest on that lake, I guarantee that they would win 9 times out of 10.

Stratton...I did not weigh any, but the one in the 3rd pic was around 4 pounds...Funny, but that was the one I caught on ultra light & Gulp Alive minnow. All you can do is hold on & hope for the best.
Thanks Yesenia...

It would not surprise me if Steve gets followed by other boats! He really knows that lake. He also knew Lake Dunlap very, very well! thumb

Side Note: He can put a lot of fish on the boat for sure! hooked

I'm thinking of trying FCL again this weekend. With a warming trend and new moon it should be perfect conditions.
