Just finished. If you are willing to try you can save $300 or more. I bought the struts at AutoZone. Duralast. They give a .10 military discount. OTD was $304. You have to ask for it. There's videos on YouTube for how to and tool needs. I'd add that a compressor and an impact wrench and an air ratchet will help. Also, you'll need a floor jack, a jack stand and a separate floor jack to compress the new strut into place, with the help of a pry bar. Don't forget the PBS. And I had to use vise grips on one side. It's about a 3 hour job. Torque specs on the lugs is 140 ft lbs. This truck was 11 years old. 2011.

Mas info: 18 mm deep socket for the top strut nuts. 15 mm for the bottoms. Remove top nuts then jack truck up and remove the tire. Remove the bottom bolts and with a pry bar, pop the strut out. Lift the new strut into place. It's heavy. Start the top nuts to hold in place. Use a small floor jack under the strut and lift. Use a pry bar to pop into place. Tighten everything up. The replacement bolt heads are 13mm but nuts are still 15 on the bottoms. The top nuts change from 18 to 15. Install tire. Torque to 140. Drop and do the other side.

I didn't know Autozone gave a military discount. Veterans too, or only active/retired?

It's incredible how much you can save with willingness to get a little grease on your hands. These days with youtube, you really don't need much know-how.

It may not be at every store, but they honor it at Aransas. I found out about it one time when the counter guy asked me if I was a vet. I said yes and showed him my Choose VA identification card, and he gave the discount. So now I ask if they give a veterans discount. Saved me $30 on the shocks.
