What Bait casting reels do y’all like for weightless rigs.I’ve been using a concept13 A1 for several years and want to try something different. Looking for lightweight high line capacity under $300.00. TIA.

Shimano MGL 70 has been fantastic for me. I have a few of them that I toss anything from jerkbaits/square bills all the way down to crappie jigs on.

For that budget I'd look into the Diawa Tatula SV series

https://tackletrap.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=75_823_3323&products_id=17319

Or

https://tackletrap.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=75_823_3041&products_id=15264

These reels can cast a great distance, light weight, hold good amount of line, and the SV make them a breeze to use in the wind (pun intended)

Thanks guys. I don’t think I can go wrong with any of the 3. I might just have to jump on that limited edition Tat.

Have to agree with Gilly, mgl70 is hard to beat throwing lighter baits.

I’ve never owned a Diawa. My top end reels are Chronarchs. How do the tats compare?

You can set up a Tatula SV TW to throw a bait and never touch the spool. I teach people that have trouble backlashing a baitcaster or ones that have never thrown one before and it works for them. Awesome reel. I use them for skipping docks.

Ok. I have an experienced thumb and don’t backlash. Is the tat fast enough?

Then get the Tatula Elite. Is 8-1 gear ratio fast enough? It is for me. I have several of them.

Yes 8.1 is fine. I’ll check out the Elite.
