Fished FCL yesterday solo in the morning & with Alan (aka Choclabdog) in the afternoon. Water level at 390.08 MSL with full pool being 391 MSL. Water temp increased from 59 (last week) to mid 60s yesterday. Morning was pretty breezy, but it calmed down around noon & was good the rest of the day. I caught 16 in the morning & we caught 55 in the afternoon for a 71 fish day. I would have caught a lot more but was constantly having to get the camera for my partners giant bass adventures. stir I think we may have a new MOF in the works. smile The bite was in a frenzy state from around 3:30 - 5 with most of our fish being caught at this time. Then the wind switched to the north & the sun came out...bite went dead at this point. Most fish were caught on 1/4 oz Ned Rigs with Z-Man finesse worms. Also caught some on Culprit worms & craw baits. This was about as much fun as you can have on the water, but still looking forward to sunfish season...about a month away. [Linked Image]

Thanks for letting me tag along Steve. What a fun day. Caught a bunch of fish and shared a lot of laughs!

Don't let him kid you guys.... we caught everything on spinner baits in less than a foot of water. frkazoid

Love this. Honestly look forward to the Vogey post at the beginning of each week! Love reading them. Keep them coming.

Steve, is ned rigs on the rip rap ever not get bit? I know in the spawn the fish will move up shallower to make beds and what not, but the ned rig on the dam seems to be a very consistent pattern!

Also, when the bluegill spawn happens, do you even target the bass?

Thank Chuck, Leo & Yesenia & Thrashfish...

Stratton...After March I really don't target Bass that much. This whole Ned Rig thing is new to me...tied my 1st one on 3 months ago...I do know that everything is seasonal on FCL. Before the Ned Rig experiment I was catching all my bass on Swimbaits. I think that when the bass really turn on...you could throw almost anything and catch a ton of fish. Don't get hung up on one bait, but concentrate more on patterns like...this time of year the best bite almost always comes in the afternoon & they are way deeper than they will be in a month. I like to fish all day, even when I know the morning bite will be slow because it allows me to "get a feel for the lake". Here is an example...In the morning along the dam there were almost no shad balls or schools...by 2 pm they were everywhere & when you can find the shad, the bass will be close by. Also, I started out fishing timber for the 1st 2 hours with no success, but I know it won't be long b4 the timber will be real good....these cold snaps keep pushing the bass back to deeper water. Hope this helps...
