I have a 4 stroke motor and its been eating some oil over the last year now. Its a 2006 Yamaha 75. After every 2 or 3 day trips on the water I have to add oil to it.

Is my motor on its last leg? Any words of wisdom would be really appreciated

Compression and leak down test will tell a lot. So will looking at the cylinders with a bore scope. But first I would try a can of power tune to see if it’s just too much carbon built up on the rings.

Sound like you not running WFO motor needs to turn 6000 every once in a while, we can do leak down and check it out.

Thanks for the advice. The boat had excellent compression in all cylinders when I first got it but im sure things could have changed. I will check it out again and look into power tune

have you wiped your finger in the prop exhaust, check for oily or black soot, shouldn't be any.
