I have a 4 stroke motor and its been eating some oil over the last year now. Its a 2006 Yamaha 75. After every 2 or 3 day trips on the water I have to add oil to it.

Is my motor on its last leg? Any words of wisdom would be really appreciated

Compression and leak down test will tell a lot. So will looking at the cylinders with a bore scope. But first I would try a can of power tune to see if itโ€™s just too much carbon built up on the rings.

Sound like you not running WFO motor needs to turn 6000 every once in a while, we can do leak down and check it out.

Thanks for the advice. The boat had excellent compression in all cylinders when I first got it but im sure things could have changed. I will check it out again and look into power tune

have you wiped your finger in the prop exhaust, check for oily or black soot, shouldn't be any.
