Got a chance to pick up a couple of new units from a friend over the weekend, and I need to get them installed and linked together. Haven't ran Lowrance products since the LCX-25, and LCX-27 were top dog.

I have a 12" Carbon and a 12" HDS Gen 3
Front graph will go through my Ultrex, but will need to put a 3 in 1 on the transom for the rear unit.

What am i needing to get these linked together? Ethernet cord, or will it have to go through a Nema network?

You will need an ethernet cable. The NMEA would be used if you added a Point 1 antenna or other data devices. What do you mean by the "front graph will go through my Ultrex"?

Imagine he's speaking of his transducer.

If you plan to run Active Target Live sonar down the road, Put the Gen 3 on the console and the Carbon on the bow. Also the 3-1 will not work on the Gen 3, Carbon only. Make sure you have the latest updates in ea unit. If you have other questions feel free to PM me anytime. Enjoy your new Technology.

That is what I am assuming. If the Ultrex has the US2 transducer, you will need the adapter cable to connect it to the Lowrance.

Yes sir. I already have the adapter for running my old Lowrance unit.

More curious about the NEMA stuff since it sounds like the Plus 1 Antenna is all that will be added to the network. Ethernet cord should do everything else i hope. Just not sure if I have to make up an whole network just for the plus 1

The point 1 ant will hook to all units on the boat so you will have to run it front to back. There are many Nema Devices you may want to add over time so best to do a full install then you are ready.

Good point, but it only has taken me 15 years to do a full electronic update.
Just money i guess. Looks like it’s going to be a couple hundred bucks more to add the network to a point 1 and 2 head units.

Make sure you put the nmea on some kind of power switch, it will pull voltage if hooked up directly to the battery.

Point1 is great if you fish open water/offshore, no more spinning in circles screens on the graph.

If you link just the two graphs via NMEA,you will be able to share waypoints and sync back light dimming

Or add a Perko breaker switch to kill all power leaving the cranking battery

cheers
Since you are installing anyway and pulling an ethernet cable I would go ahead and pull a NEMA also. If you ever change trolling motors to a Lowrance friendly motor you can run it and follow waypoints from the graph. Also the newer outboard gauges/sensors can be hooked into the NEMA network and displayed on your graphs...
