Does anyone have a recommendation on a good quality lithium jump start power pack? Somebody texted me a few weeks ago and said his boat motor starting battery was dead when he was ready to head in from fishing. I texted him back and told him to jump his starter battery off of his TM battery. Problem solved and he got back to the dock. That got me to thinking. My TM batteries are in the bow compartment of my center console boat. They don't make jumper cables long enough to get to the starter battery which is located in a aft compartment. So I was thinking about getting one of those jump start power packs and carrying it with me in the boat. Besides starting the boat engine, I would also like something that will start the car and my truck's Cummins 6.7L diesel. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

I have a NOCO GB40 that is great. When I first got it I charged it and then used it to start riding lawn mower several times, car a couple times, truck once, and small farm tractor a couple times before recharging! It will also jump my bigger Massey 265 diesel tractor but this size probably will not jump your 6.7L diesel... it will not jump my 7.3L diesel but it will assist. Note this will only jump a low battery, it will not jump a battery with a dead short nor will it start an engine by itself with no battery present. I've had it 2 or 3 years and it still works great.

I have a NOCO GB50 and it has rescued both of my daughters over the past year. For a diesel jump, you’ll likely need the NOCO GB70 with 2000 amps charge reserve.

I have a NOCO GB70 and use it pretty often, I can run an external air pump and it holds a charge well. I liked it so much I bought both my sons and son in law each one for Christmas.

Harbor freight probably has something

I’ve got a NOCO but I haven’t needed to use it yet. Got one for my wife too and she hasn’t had a need either, but they have really good reviews.

I use it to recharge RC Airplane batteries. It says it will jump a diesel truck.

I have a halo jump starter. I started up my neighbors dead dodge diesel withy no problem. Also kept out electronics charged during the power outages.

I have a NOCO GB40 also; it’s cranked my boat once and my work truck a few times. As previously mentioned, I’d probably go with the GB70 for the big diesel. My GB40 holds a charge well; I check it every few months and it’s always barely off of 100%. It’s light, compact, and reliable.

I have the Hulkman 85S but you would need the 100 if you want to jump your 6.7. I’ve used mine a few times and it’s darn impressive and very well made with a built in bright flashlight and it has a nice display also. I ordered mine direct and they had a 10% off coupon at the time. It was cheaper then Amazon.

I need to get a new jump start device. I had a couple years back when they first came out but to small and batteries didn’t hold up.

My 97 2 door Tahoe has a paging alarm system that will run batteries down if I let it set for 3 weeks or so without starting. I need to get a jump start device reason being. These new solid state battery chargers will not charge a battery if they can’t detect voltage. That makes a lot of sense but that’s they way they are. You have hook an old school charger up or connect another battery. Then once they read voltage they will charge. If you don’t believe me go on eBay and see what old school battery chargers are going for.

next time try setting the charger to start (mine is 100a) and let it run for a couple of mins. then it should recognize the battery.
