A humbling day on Lavon. Beautiful day to be on the water, which as most of you know means maybe not the best day to fish. Well it wasn't. We were out before sunrise and came in about 1:00 with out tails between our legs and a skunk still in the boat. Marked fish everywhere but couldn't find any that wanted to play.

I asked Geno aka Skeetmaster if he had a banana in his pocket or something but he didn't. We enjoyed the visit and spending the day on the water is always a blessing.

We'll be back after 'em soon...

Well, I for one had a successful day on Lavon!

Successful as in dropping my bait knife over the side of my boat, breaking the clicking drag on my brand new reel, and successfully filling my boot with 50F water after fubaring loading my boat back on my trailer.

hammer

Oh and almost forgot, successfully getting skunked as well.

violin

Just like Tim and Geno, I spotted lots of fish in 25 feet of water, but couldnโ€™t get a bite.

Itโ€™s called fishing not catching for a reasonโ€ฆ.

Onward and upward!!

Haha the last thing I ever want to do is ask another guy on my boat if he has a banana in his pocket.

Thatโ€™s fishing boys. Nice day to be on the water regardless. We had em going early and then the bite completely died. We got a handful of teeners, a 20, and 50 lb big fish. Got my buddy Chris his new PB. We missed 7 big fish or today would have been epic.

Tim, I warned you about my luck. Man, I'm gonna get the wrong kinda reputation here! Nobody's gonna want me to fish with em. You sure all those posts you've made over the past couple of months aren't filled with photo-shopped pics!!

Looking back on the day I think a couple things we could have done different that might have made a difference...

One, all we had was shad. No other baits. That might have made a difference. The other thing is, we never really went deep. There were so many fish marking in the mid depths, we just couldn't get past them. After talking with some other guys who were out. I think that might have been the biggest mistake I made. Sorry Geno, swing and a miss brother.

I had made up my mind that we were into the transition and I think that led me to ignore the deep water where we have been catching so many fish during the winter pattern. Should have known better. hmmm confused 3 hammer realmad bang

Dag blasted Tim, I only had bigger baits and still couldnโ€™t snag em!

A short anecdote. I met a guy I know in my local greasy spoon this morning, while visiting to grab an early low cal breakfast. He is a semi pro crappie fisherman with a huge fancy 300hp deep V boat. He always pokes good hearted fun at me regarding catโ€™n, and me back as I tell him I use his small fist as bait.

Well, a big competition this past weekend, and he was looking forward to it.

He told most of the boats were skunked and hardly any fish were caught. Worst day ever.

So Iโ€™m guessing the huge temp changes and bluebird day killed it.

But of course no one told El Gato!!
