I think it's a long way off for bass boats. The power density just isn't there compared to good ole gasoline.

Nothing like the deep varoom starting in the morning and the smell of oil and gas of a 2 stroke

it will be very interesting to see what they come to the table with once they release this technology to the public. I've already seen; and this has been a few years ago, an outboard on You Tube that is approximately 120 to 140 horsepower on a roughly 18 foot runabout that nearly had the range of a gasoline motor and the technology has advanced massively since that motor was built. The cool part about an electric motor is it can make 100% of its torque in less than 1 revolution of the motor so the hole shot for something that could push a 20 foot bass boat would be insane.

It looks like one of those thermometers people would put up to your forehead during covid.

The electric boat is quickly gaining momentum.....check out the Air Nautique GS22e. A $315k tow boat with insane technology and proves it can be done. Pure Watercraft has built a complete system for smaller aluminum bass boats.

The initial Mercury motor released is for small Jon boats and RIBs designed to be highly portable.

By 2025 Mercury will have reduced outboard emissions by 80%, so you will begin seeing petrol engines disappear.

Keep in mind electric motors are 90%+ more efficient that gas motors and only require a handful of moving parts.

The only component holding this back is related to batteries, but at the rate of innovation it won't be long before that is no longer an issue.

Been hearing exactly this for a decade....and yet they're still not "there"....not even close. Yet there is an obvious attempt to destroy a reliable energy source/industry betting on some entity to "innovate" EV technology so it's viable.

Btw, where EXACTLY is the infrastructure to support EV? Power grids are already stressed to capacity, etc.

Also, I'm NOT trying to be a sm@rtass and would love to read for myself how this is going to be accomplished. It's one thing to talk about it, an entirely different thing to actually accomplish it. I love the idea of EV, in theory, but, I want to know EXACTLY how it's going to be accomplished.....
