 '89 Merc trouble

Have an '89 Champ 176 with an '89 135hp Merc on it. Power head is blown. Tried one off an '89 150 and the shop couldn't get it to work. Would like to find a power head or a deal on another older motor. TIA Steve

jus curious?.. whats up with tha 150?.. word a caution, be very warry of anything used on tha internet.. seems like tha butt head "gottcha" crowd for tha older v6 (complete motors and/or parts) is increasing at a rapid rate............ T

Took the 150 to a shop. They had it probably 4 months. Got it on the 135 only to tell me they could't get it to start and run. Called a few other shops and none wanted to touch it. One told me the exhaust ports are probably different. Did buy it off here actually and asked the seller if the 150 power head would work on the 135. He got back to me and said yes it would. I should've known better. jus curious?.. whats up with tha 150?.. word a caution, be very warry of anything used on tha internet.. seems like tha butt head "gottcha" crowd for tha older v6 (complete motors and/or parts) is increasing at a rapid rate............ there's no reason it shouldn't.. tha ONLY difference ina 135 and 150 are carbs and tuner.. and very little there! shoulda been a plug n play swap....

This is what I was told by the original owner. For whatever reason the shop I took it to couldn;t get it to fire. If you know anyone in the metroplex I could call please let me know. Thanks there's no reason it shouldn't.. tha ONLY difference ina 135 and 150 are carbs and tuner.. and very little there! shoulda been a plug n play swap....

Thanks guys. I had a conversation with a shop in Longview today and he too said it should work. I'll touch base with these others tomorrow, but really felt confident after talking with Joe in Longview.
