Are BG spawning in April? What techniques and tactics are working in east Tx lakes? Is it an all day bite? Is there a particularly good lake to hit? All help appreciated.

Here in the East they spawn after the first good rains.. They bite where there's light.. Drop shotting using live bait works great. Lakes Conroe and Livingston produce numbers and size. My PB is 13 inches.
Just go fishing, enjoy yourself, put aside what people are saying to you or about you on social media, enjoy fishing for what "you" want it to be. 🙂

Yes they are...I believe Conroe & Athens are 2 of the best BG lakes in the state from everything I have read.

April through October are great months for catching sunfish. Sunfish usually spawn three times a year. During the spawn they are aggressive and will usually hit anything on or very near their nest. I use worms for bait.

I will be there (Athens) April 9-16. Do you fly fish? Are we talking shallow water stuff? I'm hoping to fill in some BG when the bass are not hitting. I caught just a few last year, but I may have been fishing too deep at 4-7 feet off the weed banks.
